Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue on Game Boy Color is exactly what you’d hope for—a solid side-scrolling beat 'em up where you pick your Ranger and bash through waves of monsters. The sprites are surprisingly colorful for a GBC game, and yeah, you get to morph, which never gets old. Each Ranger handles a little differently—I stuck with the Red Ranger most of the time because his moves felt smoother, but the others have their moments.
It’s not just mindless punching, either. There are some basic platforming bits and even a few puzzles, though nothing that’ll make you sweat too hard. The boss fights are where it shines, especially if you remember the show—seeing those cheesy villains pop up on screen is a nostalgia trip. It’s short, sure, but for a licensed game from this era, it’s way more playable than it had any right to be.
If you grew up with Power Rangers or just love old-school action games, this one’s a solid time capsule.
