Power Blade is one of those NES action games that feels like a hidden gem—you toss boomerangs (yes, boomerangs) at robots in a futuristic dystopia, and somehow it just works. The controls are tight, and the levels have this cool semi-open design where you can tackle objectives in different orders. Also, your character looks like a beefed-up Arnold Schwarzenegger with a glowing blade, which is ridiculous in the best way.
First few minutes? You’re running through neon-lit corridors, dodging turrets, and figuring out which upgrades to grab. The boomerang mechanic takes a second to get used to—it arcs back to you, so you’ve gotta time your throws right. And the music? Absolute synth bangers.
Controls are straightforward: arrows to move, Z/X for attacks, and space to pause. It’s the kind of game where you’ll die a few times early on, then suddenly everything clicks. Definitely worth a play if you’re into old-school action with a weird, satisfying twist.
