Pitfall: The Lost Expedition on GBA is basically Indiana Jones meets classic platforming—but with way more vine-swinging and way fewer Nazis. You play as Harry, the original jungle explorer, bouncing between crumbling ruins and dodging traps that’d make a tomb raider sweat. The controls feel tight, which helps when you’re mid-air over a pit of spikes or timing a jump between collapsing platforms.
What surprised me was how much personality it has for a GBA game. Harry’s got this goofy charm, and the levels mix puzzles with just enough combat to keep things spicy (though honestly, the scorpions are more annoying than threatening). The art style pops with bright greens and deep cave shadows—it’s impressive how much atmosphere they crammed into that tiny screen.
If you grew up with the old Pitfall games, there’s nostalgia here, but it doesn’t rely on it. You’ll still curse when you miss a vine swing for the fifth time, but in that satisfying "one more try" way. Just watch out for the quicksand—it’s sneakier than it looks.
