Oh man, Peter Pan & The Pirates on NES... where do I start? Critics weren't wrong about this one. You play as Peter swinging this tiny sword that barely reaches anything, collecting fairy dust bags to stay airborne (which sounds cooler than it plays). The first level drops you in a forest where you awkwardly hop around trying to hit pirates who always seem just out of reach.
The whole thing feels like fighting the controls as much as the enemies. You clear levels by taking out every single pirate before moving on, which gets old fast when your attacks whiff half the time. Eventually you make it to Hook's ship, but by then you'll either be numb from frustration or just relieved it's over.
Honestly, the only reason I kept playing was childhood stubbornness. Even the fairy dust mechanic, which should've been fun, just makes the janky platforming worse. It's one of those games where you can tell they had the right idea but missed the mark completely.
