Nemesis Game

Nemesis on Game Boy is one of those shooters that feels simple at first—just you, your tiny ship, and a swarm of pixel aliens—but man, does it ramp up fast. The first few levels ease you in with basic patterns, then suddenly you're weaving through bullet hell while trying to snag power-ups before they vanish. That spread shot upgrade? Lifesaver.
The chiptune soundtrack somehow makes your thumbs move faster, and the screen crunch actually works in its favor—everything’s tight and readable, even when it gets chaotic. I lost a few runs to that one boss with the spinning arms before I figured out the trick (hint: hug the bottom corner).
It’s got that classic "one more try" pull, where you swear you’ll beat your high score if you just dodge that one attack pattern better next time. Still holds up if you’re into retro shooters.
