About Nadia
Nadia was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, though it never saw a wide international release. It was developed and published by Bandai, placing it among the many licensed titles that appeared on the console. The game is based on the anime series Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, and it arrived during a period when such adaptations were common, often attempting to translate animated stories into interactive form.
You control Nadia, a young acrobat, and her companion Jean as they navigate a series of side scrolling stages. Your main goal is to rescue Nadia's friend, King, from the clutches of the villainous Gargoyle and his Neo-Atlantean forces. Signature mechanics include switching between the two characters on the fly, as each possesses unique abilities; Nadia can jump higher and perform acrobatic maneuvers, while Jean can attack enemies directly. You explore levels filled with platforms, traps, and enemy soldiers, collecting items and managing a limited inventory of tools. The pacing is deliberate, with some demanding platforming sequences, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, typical of many action platformers from that era. It feels like a straightforward but sometimes clumsy attempt to capture an adventure from another medium.
