My Hero Game

Oh man, My Hero on the Sega Master System—this one takes me back. You start off with this dinky little sword, but don’t let that fool you. Within minutes, you’re jumping between platforms, slashing at weird mushroom monsters, and trying not to fall into bottomless pits (which happens way more than I’d like to admit).
The controls are simple—just attack and jump—but the levels get surprisingly tricky. There’s this one boss, a floating eyeball thing, that took me forever to beat because I kept mistiming my swings. And the music? Classic 8-bit heroic fanfare that somehow makes even dying repeatedly feel epic.
It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something satisfying about slowly mastering each stage. Just don’t expect a deep story—your hero stays silent while some princess yells vague warnings at you between levels. Still, for a quick nostalgia trip, it holds up better than you’d think.
