Mahoujin Guruguru on the Game Boy is one of those weird little RPGs that flew under the radar outside Japan. It's based on the anime, so you get that same goofy, colorful vibe—think chibi characters, silly spells, and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. You start off as this kid wizard-in-training, and the magic system’s actually kind of neat—you draw symbols to cast spells instead of just picking from a menu.
Combat’s simple but has just enough strategy to keep it interesting, especially when you’re figuring out which spells work best against certain enemies. The pixel art’s charming in that classic Game Boy way, though the dungeons can feel a bit samey after a while. If you’re into obscure retro RPGs with personality, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
