If you grew up with the Magic Knight Rayearth anime or manga, this Game Boy sequel is a total nostalgia trip. You take control of Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu—three girls tossed into the fantasy world of Cephiro—and the pixel art actually does a solid job capturing their designs. The dungeons are maze-like, with some light puzzle-solving, and combat’s turn-based but with a twist: you pick attacks based on their elemental strengths. (Fire beats wind, wind beats water… you get the idea.)
It’s not super deep, but the story hits the same beats as the show—friendship, sacrifice, all that good ‘90s anime drama. The music’s surprisingly catchy for a Game Boy title, too. Just don’t expect a cakewalk—some of those late-game bosses will wreck you if you don’t grind a little. Still holds up if you’re into retro JRPGs with a side of magical girl flair.
