Okay, so Little Mermaid on Game Boy is way more fun than I expected. You play as Ariel, obviously, swimming through these surprisingly detailed underwater levels—coral reefs, shipwrecks, even Ursula’s creepy laire. The controls are simple (just swim and shoot bubbles to trap enemies), but some of those jellyfish swarms get intense.
What’s cool is how they squeezed the movie’s vibe into a tiny cartridge. The music’s got that familiar Disney charm, and the sprites actually look like the characters. I kept getting distracted by little details, like how Ariel’s hair flows when she turns. Also, side note: the treasure collecting isn’t just filler—you need those shells to unlock later levels.
It’s short, like most Game Boy games, but perfect for when you want something light and nostalgic. Just don’t expect deep RPG mechanics—it’s pure, bubbly platforming fun.
