About Legend
I first played Legend on the original Game Boy, a title released in 1990 by developer Color Dreams. It arrived during a period when the handheld was flooded with adventure games, many trying to capture the feel of larger console experiences. This one stood out simply by being there, a pocket-sized quest you could take anywhere.
You control a warrior navigating a world split into distinct screens. Your goal is to explore dungeons, defeat monsters, and gather the scattered pieces of a powerful artifact. The game relies on screen-by-screen exploration; you move from one fixed view to the next, which keeps the scope manageable. Combat is straightforward, using a sword for close encounters. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be steep, demanding careful movement and resource management. It feels like a condensed, personal adventure that fits in your hands.
