Law Of The West (japan) Game

Law of the West is this weird little NES gem—well, Famicom if you're in Japan—where you play as a sheriff trying to keep the peace in a dusty cowboy town. It's not your typical shoot-'em-up Western; instead, you spend most of your time talking to outlaws, making choices, and seeing how badly things spiral when you pick the wrong dialogue option. (Spoiler: very badly.)
First time I played, I thought I could just quick-draw my way out of trouble. Nope. The game forces you to think like an actual lawman—do you bribe the drunk, arrest him, or just hope he wanders off? Every decision changes how the townsfolk react, and sometimes the quiet guy in the corner pulls a gun on you just because you looked at him wrong. Classic Alan Miller weirdness, honestly.
It's clunky by modern standards, but there's something weirdly charming about how much personality they crammed into those tiny sprites. You can tell it was a computer game first—lots of text, slow pacing—but that just makes it stand out more on the NES. If you're into old-school adventure games with a Wild West twist, this one's a fun time.
