Jikuu Senki Mu is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s a solid turn-based strategy RPG with a time-travel twist. You start off leading a squad of mechs (or "armors," as the game calls them) through feudal Japan, blasting enemy units with lasers and missiles. The pixel art’s surprisingly detailed for a Game Boy title, and the terrain actually matters—hills give you an advantage, rivers slow you down, that sort of thing.
At first, I thought it was just another generic tactics game, but the time-hopping story gets wild fast. One mission you’re fighting samurai, the next you’re up against futuristic drones. The UI’s a bit clunky by modern standards, but once you get the hang of it, the battles flow pretty smoothly. If you’re into old-school SRPGs like Fire Emblem but want something a little offbeat, this one’s worth digging up.
