About Ikari No Yousai
Ikari No Yousai came out for the Game Boy in 1991 from SNK. It was part of that wave of early handheld games trying to fit big ideas onto a small screen. You got a lot of these action adventures back then, games that asked you to explore and fight your way through a compact world.
You control a lone soldier navigating a fortress, moving screen by screen to clear out enemies. Your main goal is to destroy the enemy base, which involves delving through the complex, fighting soldiers and robots with your rifle and grenades. You collect power-ups to improve your weapons and health, and you need to manage your limited ammunition carefully. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty is steady, demanding careful movement and aim. It feels like a tense, methodical crawl through hostile territory.
