Gun-Dec is one of those weird, obscure NES shooters that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s actually pretty fun once you get the hang of it. You pilot this transforming mech that switches between a tank and a jet, blasting through waves of enemies with a surprisingly satisfying arsenal. The controls take a minute to adjust to (especially the transformation mechanic), but once it clicks, weaving between bullets and swapping forms mid-fight feels slick.
It’s got that classic ’80s anime vibe, with chunky sprites and a soundtrack that somehow makes beeping noises sound intense. Not gonna lie, the first stage almost tricked me into thinking it was easy—then the difficulty spikes hard. If you’re into retro shooters with a twist, this one’s worth digging up.
