About Gun-dec (japan)
Gun-Dec came out in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Compile. It was one of many action games on the platform, arriving when developers were pushing the 8-bit hardware with more complex mechanics and scrolling levels. You control a soldier navigating through a series of side-scrolling and top-down stages.
Your main goal is to fight through enemy forces and destroy their bases. You move from left to right in side-scrolling sections, shooting robots and soldiers while jumping over pits. The game switches to an overhead view for certain areas, where you navigate mazes and destroy key structures. You collect power-ups for your gun, increasing its strength and range, and you have a limited supply of bombs for clearing screens of enemies.
