Front Line (Japan) is one of those old-school NES shooters that feels like it was ripped straight from the arcade—because, well, it kinda was. You start off with this little tank, rolling forward while enemies pop up from trenches and bunkers. At first, it seems simple—just shoot everything—but then you realize you’ve got grenades too, and suddenly you’re lobbing them into foxholes like some kind of one-tank army.
The controls take a second to get used to—your tank moves forward automatically, so you’re mostly focused on aiming and timing your shots. It’s got that classic Taito feel: straightforward but punishing if you rush in without thinking. And yeah, the graphics are basic, but there’s something satisfying about clearing a screen of enemies before they overwhelm you.
Honestly, it’s not the deepest game, but if you’re into retro shooters, it’s a solid little time capsule from 1982. Just don’t expect a walk in the park—those enemy soldiers get aggressive fast.
