Friday the 13th on NES is one of those weird, janky horror games that somehow still sticks with you. You play as a camp counselor (or later, Jason’s mom—yeah, really) running around Crystal Lake trying to save kids from, well, everything. Zombies, ghosts, even Jason himself pops up to ruin your day. The controls are stiff, and half the time you’re just chucking rocks or knives at enemies while navigating confusing cabins, but there’s something oddly tense about it.
Weapons are scattered everywhere—knives, torches, even pitchforks—but good luck landing a hit with the NES’s clunky combat. And don’t get me started on the weird day/night cycle that just decides when Jason feels like showing up. Still, if you’re into retro horror or just love games that feel like they’re barely holding together, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect it to play fair.
