Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball on SNES is one of those mid-90s sports games that actually holds up. Yeah, it's got the Big Hurt on the cover, but what surprised me was how smooth the animations were for the time—fielders dive for catches, batters adjust their stance, and the pitching mechanics feel less janky than most 16-bit baseball games.

First thing you notice? The field actually looks like a real ballpark, not just a flat green rectangle. And the batting camera zooms in close enough that you can see Frank’s massive swing in all its pixelated glory. Pitches have weight to them, too—curveballs actually bend, and if you time it right, that satisfying *crack* when you connect with a fastball is weirdly addictive.

It’s not perfect (the AI baserunning can be a little derpy), but for a SNES baseball game, it’s way more polished than you’d expect. Still fun to fire up for a quick game when you’re in the mood for some old-school diamond action.
