Fireteam Rogue is one of those lost SNES prototypes that never got a full release—which is a shame, because it’s a solid little sci-fi shooter with some surprisingly tight controls. You’re dropped into this top-down mission where you control a squad of mercs blasting through waves of alien bugs and rogue mechs. The pixel art’s got that gritty 90s vibe, and the music? Absolute synth bangers.

At first, I thought it was just another generic run-and-gun, but the squad mechanics actually make it stand out. Switching between your three guys on the fly keeps things hectic—like when your heavy gunner gets swarmed and you gotta quickly swap to the sniper to pick off the stragglers. The proto version’s a bit rough around the edges (some missions feel unfinished), but it’s weirdly addictive once you get into the rhythm. If you’re into obscure retro gems, this one’s worth a look.
