Man, Final Fantasy 3 through 6 on SNES? That’s basically a masterclass in how RPGs should feel. You start off with these little pixelated heroes who somehow manage to carry more emotional weight than most modern AAA characters. The music hits you first—that Uematsu magic with synths that somehow make a 16-bit console sound like an orchestra.

Each game’s got its own flavor: FF3’s job system lets you tinker with classes until you find your perfect party setup (I wasted hours just switching between ninjas and dragoons), FF4’s got that dramatic, almost operatic storyline, FF5 polishes the job system to a shine, and FF6? Oh man, FF6 is the one where you realize halfway through that the villain might have already won, and the second half just flips everything on its head.

The pixel art still holds up too—there’s something about the way spells like Meteor or Ultima light up the screen that makes you forget this is running on a 30-year-old console. And don’t even get me started on the opera scene in FF6. You’ll either love it or laugh at how hard it goes, but either way, you won’t forget it.

If you’ve never played these, you’re in for a treat—just be ready to lose a weekend or three.
