FIFA International Soccer on the Game Boy is one of those "how did they even fit this on here?" kind of ports. You get the basic FIFA feel—passing, shooting, those little pixelated players running around—but obviously scaled way down. The controls take a second to get used to (good luck nailing a perfect through ball at first), but once it clicks, it’s weirdly satisfying.
Matches are fast, a little chaotic, and honestly, the AI can be brutal if you crank up the difficulty. The tournament mode is where I spent most of my time—there’s something about grinding through those old-school brackets that just feels right. And yeah, the graphics are super basic, but the chunky sprites have charm, especially when you sneak in a last-minute goal.
It’s not the deepest soccer sim, but for a Game Boy game, it holds up better than you’d expect. Just don’t go in expecting modern FIFA—this is pure, janky, late-night-under-the-covers handheld nostalgia.
