Donkey Kong Land on the Game Boy is basically a pocket-sized version of the SNES classic, but don’t let the smaller screen fool you—it’s still packed with that same chaotic platforming energy. You’ve got DK and Diddy bouncing across vines, dodzing Kremlings, and yeah, losing way too many lives to those minecart levels (seriously, who thought those were a good idea?).
The graphics are surprisingly decent for the Game Boy, with little details like Kongs’ fur textures and those goofy enemy animations. And the controls? Tight enough that when you die, it’s usually your fault—except for that one barrel level near the end. We don’t talk about that one.
If you’ve got a soft spot for 90s platformers or just want to see DK in monochrome glory, this one’s a solid time capsule. Just maybe keep a walkthrough handy for the later stages.
