Donkey Kong Land III on the Game Boy is one of those late-era gems that doesn’t get enough love. You play as Dixie and Kiddy Kong—Dixie’s got her hair-copter thing (still weirdly satisfying to float with), and Kiddy’s just this chunky little guy who rolls like a bowling ball. The levels are packed with those classic Donkey Kong Country secrets—hidden barrels, bonus rooms, and the occasional "how was I supposed to know that was there?" moment.
The music’s surprisingly catchy for a Game Boy game, and the sprite work does a lot with the hardware’s limits. Some of the later levels get brutal, especially when the screen starts auto-scrolling and you’re just praying you don’t miss a jump. It’s not as polished as the SNES games, but there’s a scrappy charm to it. If you’ve got a soft spot for handheld platformers, this one’s worth digging up.
