Darius Twin is one of those classic SNES shooters that feels like blasting through an alien aquarium. You pilot this sleek silver spaceship (with a killer bass-heavy soundtrack) through waves of robotic sea creatures—think mechanical jellyfish, laser-firing stingrays, and these weird crab bosses that take up half the screen. The first level throws you right into it with these neon coral backdrops and enemies that swoop in from all angles.

What’s cool is the branching paths—beat a boss, pick a route, and suddenly you’re in a totally different biome, like some deep-sea trench or a bubble-filled cavern. The power-up system’s simple but satisfying: grab orbs to upgrade your weapons, though good luck keeping them when things get chaotic. That second boss, the giant anglerfish? Pure panic the first time it fills the screen.

It’s got that old-school difficulty where you’ll probably burn through a few continues, but the spectacle makes it worth it. The whole thing oozes early ‘90s arcade charm.
