Okay, so Daiku No Gensan is one of those weirdly charming Game Boy games where you play as this little construction worker dude taking on an army of rogue robots. At first glance, it looks like a standard platformer, but there's something oddly satisfying about smashing bots with a giant hammer while jumping between conveyor belts and dodging laser traps.
The controls take a minute to get used to—your guy has this weighty feel when he jumps, so you'll faceplant into spikes a few times before timing it right. But once it clicks, you start pulling off these ridiculous mid-air hammer swings to take out flying enemies. The later levels get brutal though—expect a lot of trial and error with those disappearing platforms.
Honestly, the pixel art holds up surprisingly well. The robots have these goofy, exaggerated designs, like something out of an old anime. And that chiptune soundtrack? Pure 90s nostalgia. Just don't expect a deep story—it's basically "robots bad, smash robots" the whole way through. Still weirdly fun if you're into retro platformers with a little jank.
