Conflict for the NES is one of those weird little strategy games that flew under the radar back in the day. You’re basically moving units around a grid map, trying to outmaneuver the enemy—think chess but with tanks and infantry. The controls are simple enough, though the menus are all in Japanese, so you’ll be guessing a bit unless you know the language.

At first, I had no idea what I was doing—just pushing units forward and hoping for the best. Turns out, positioning matters way more than brute force. If you leave your artillery exposed, it’s toast. The AI isn’t exactly genius-level, but it’ll punish careless moves. Not the deepest strategy game, but it’s got that old-school charm if you’re into retro war sims.

You can find it on emulators these days, but good luck figuring out the finer details without a translation guide.
