Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars on GBA is one of those rare ports that actually does justice to the original. You start off as George, just some American tourist chilling in Paris—until a bomb goes off in a café and suddenly you're knee-deep in a conspiracy involving the freaking Templars. The writing’s sharp, the puzzles make you think without being obnoxious, and Nico (the journalist you team up with) is way more than just a sidekick.

What surprised me was how well the point-and-click gameplay translated to the tiny screen. Yeah, the graphics took a hit, but the atmosphere? Still perfect. You’ll poke around ancient ruins, decode cryptic symbols, and get into more than a few arguments with suspiciously well-informed locals. The story’s the real star here—it’s got that classic adventure game vibe where every conversation feels like it might hide a clue.

If you’ve never played a Broken Sword game before, this is a solid place to start. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time trying to figure out how to open that one stupid door in the catacombs.
