Bonk's Revenge came out for the Game Boy in 1991, developed by Hudson Soft. The game is structured screen by screen, with some vertical climbing sections and hidden items to find. It moves at a brisk pace, and the challenge feels consistent, not overly punishing but requiring some precision with your jumps and attacks.
