Bonk’s Adventure on NES is one of those weird, charming platformers that somehow makes smashing things with your forehead feel totally natural. You play as this big-headed caveman who basically headbutts everything—enemies, blocks, even bosses. The first level throws you right into it: bouncing on mushrooms, knocking out dinosaurs, and collecting those little smiley fruits (no idea what they are, but you want them).
The controls are simple—jump, bonk, repeat—but the levels get surprisingly creative. One minute you’re hopping across floating logs, the next you’re riding a pterodactyl. The music’s got that classic NES chirpiness, and the colors pop way more than you’d expect from a caveman game. It’s like if Mario took a detour through the Stone Age and decided violence was the answer.
Honestly, it’s a little janky in places (good luck judging some of those jumps), but that’s part of the retro charm. If you’ve ever wanted to play as a tiny, angry dude who solves problems with his skull, this is your game.
