Blades of Steel on Game Boy is basically the arcade hockey classic squeezed into your pocket. It's got that same fast, rough-and-tumble Konami feel—you’ll be slapping pucks and starting fights within seconds. The controls are simple (pass, shoot, and yes, punch), but the AI actually puts up a decent fight once you get past the first few matches.
Graphics are obviously scaled down from the NES version, but the chunky sprites and satisfying "clack" when you score still hold up. The between-period mini-game where you mash buttons to win fights is just as ridiculous as I remember. Not the deepest hockey sim, but perfect for quick sessions when you just want to body-check some pixels.
Honestly, it’s impressive how much of the arcade chaos they crammed into a Game Boy cart.
