About Battletoads (japan)
Battletoads for the Game Boy came out in 1991, developed by Rare. It was part of that wave of games trying to pack a console-style brawler onto the handheld, a common ambition for the platform at the time.
You control one of the Battletoads, fighting through the Dark Queen's forces to rescue your captured companions. The game mixes side-scrolling beat-'em-up action with other types of stages, including vehicle sequences. Your character uses exaggerated, cartoonish attacks; your fists and feet can swell to massive size for powerful hits. The main objective is to progress screen by screen, defeating all the enemies in your path. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is notoriously high, especially in the later levels. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic scramble to survive the next onslaught.
