Battletank on NES is exactly what it sounds like—you're in a tank, blowing stuff up. The controls take a second to get used to (why does reverse feel so sluggish?), but once you get the hang of it, you're rolling through enemy bases, picking off turrets and other tanks with satisfying little explosion animations. The overhead view gives you just enough room to plan your moves, but things get chaotic fast when multiple enemies start firing at once.
It's not the deepest tank sim out there, but there's something weirdly addictive about the straightforward action. I kept replaying the first few missions just to shave seconds off my clear time. The music's got that classic NES synth energy too—you'll either love it or mute it after 10 minutes.
If you're into retro games where you can just jump in and cause mayhem, this one holds up better than you'd expect.
