Battle City is that classic NES tank game where you're basically a one-tank army defending your little eagle base from waves of enemy armor. You start off with this dinky little yellow tank that feels way too slow at first, but once you grab a power-up or two—boom, suddenly you're blasting through bricks and taking out enemies with satisfying little explosions.
The coolest part? You can actually build your own stages in the level editor. I spent way too much as a kid making impossible mazes just to watch the AI tanks get stuck. Pro tip: don't let those silver tanks live too long—they get faster every time they respawn, and before long they're zipping around like they've had three cups of coffee.
It's simple, it's addictive, and that 8-bit tank battle theme still gets stuck in my head sometimes.
