Bakuchou Retrieve Master is one of those Game Boy games that makes you realize how much personality they could cram into those tiny cartridges. You play as this little treasure hunter dude who’s basically Indiana Jones if he had to navigate pixel-perfect jumps and sneaky traps with just a D-pad and two buttons.
The first level throws you right into it—spikes, crumbling platforms, enemies that pop out of nowhere. I died like five times before I got the timing down for the first big jump. But when you finally grab that shiny treasure at the end of a level? Pure satisfaction. The puzzles start simple but get devious later—some treasures are hidden behind fake walls or require weird item combos.
It’s got that classic "just one more try" energy, even when the difficulty spikes. And the chiptune soundtrack? Weirdly intense for a game about collecting loot. If you’re into retro platformers that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a blast.
