V-Rally on Game Boy is one of those racers that somehow makes tiny pixel cars feel fast and weighty. You’ve got a handful of real-world rally stages—dirt, snow, tarmac—and the handling’s surprisingly decent for a handheld this old. The cars fishtail just enough to make corners exciting without being punishing.
First race in, you’ll notice the perspective’s a weird mix of top-down and isometric, but after a few turns, it clicks. The stages scroll smoothly, and there’s a real sense of speed when you hit a straight. No fancy power-ups or gimmicks, just you, the clock, and the occasional disastrous tree collision.
It’s not the deepest rally sim, but for a Game Boy title, it nails the vibe. The championship mode’s where it shines—grinding through seasons actually feels rewarding. Just don’t expect Forza-level detail on a screen this small.
