Tom and Jerry: The Magic Ring is basically the cartoon chaos you remember, but now you get to control it. You start off chasing (or being chased) through these bright, cartoony levels—some are classic house settings, others get weird with magic portals and floating platforms. The controls feel pretty tight for a GBA game, though Jerry’s tiny jumps took me a minute to get used to.
What’s cool is you can play as either Tom or Jerry, and their movesets actually change how you approach levels. Tom’s heavier but can smash stuff, while Jerry slips through gaps and uses his size to sneak around. The magic ring gimmick adds some fun twists—like turning into weird objects or messing with gravity—but it never overcomplicates things. Just expect a lot of running, dodging, and the occasional anvil dropping on someone’s head.
It’s not the deepest platformer, but if you ever wanted to recreate those ridiculous chases from the show, this does the job. The music even nails that old-school cartoon vibe.
