Okay, so The Shadow on SNES is one of those weirdly atmospheric games that sticks with you. You start off in this moody, almost noir-ish city where everything’s drenched in shadows—fitting, right? At first, it feels like a standard side-scroller, but then you realize you can actually merge with darkness to sneak past enemies or ambush them. Super cool mechanic that keeps you experimenting.
The levels get progressively more twisted, with these eerie puzzles where you’re manipulating light sources to unlock paths. Some of the boss fights are brutal (that damn mirror doppelgänger had me stuck for ages), but nailing the timing on your shadow powers feels so satisfying. And the soundtrack? All moody synths and deep bass—perfect for creeping around alleyways.
It’s not flawless—the controls can be a little stiff when you’re not in shadow form—but there’s something about the vibe that just works. If you’re into retro games with a darker edge, this one’s worth digging up.
