If you've ever wanted to wander Middle-earth in your pocket, this GBA adaptation of The Hobbit actually does a solid job. You start off as Bilbo—reluctant, fussy, and totally unprepared—getting dragged into Thorin & Co.'s mess. The sprites are surprisingly detailed for a handheld, and Mirkwood's gloomy trees actually feel oppressive when you're fumbling through spider webs.

Combat's simple but satisfying—swing your little sword, dodge trolls, and occasionally panic when Gollum shows up whispering riddles. The puzzles aren't brain-melters, but figuring out how to sneak past Smaug's treasure hoard still feels like a win. Some sections drag (looking at you, barrel-riding sequence), but hearing that tinny GBA rendition of the Misty Mountains theme? Pure nostalgia.

It's not perfect, but for a licensed game, it nails the cozy-dangerous vibe of Tolkien's world. Just don't expect deep lore—this is Bilbo's snack-sized adventure, not a Silmarillion simulator.
