Okay, so Tennis no Ouji-sama—yeah, that's "The Prince of Tennis" if you're not up on your Japanese—is basically a GBA tennis game with all the characters from the anime. It's got that classic arcade-y feel where the matches are fast, the animations are simple but smooth, and the special shots are totally over-the-top. You know, the usual anime power move nonsense where the ball catches fire or leaves afterimages.
First thing you'll notice? The roster. All the fan favorites are here—Ryoma, Tezuka, Fuji—each with their own ridiculous signature moves. Picking your character actually matters, too. Some are speed demons, others hit like trucks, and a few are just weirdly balanced. Took me a couple matches to realize that, though. At first I just went with whoever looked coolest (bad idea).
It's not super deep, but it's fun for quick sessions. The controls are simple—basic shots, lobs, and smashes—but timing those special moves right feels satisfying. Also, the music’s got that early 2000s anime game energy, all synth and hype. If you’re into the series or just want a no-frills tennis game with some personality, this one’s a solid pick.
