Ever played one of those old Game Boy brawlers where everything moves just a little too fast and the characters look like they’ve been squished into chibi versions of themselves? That’s Tekkyu Fight! in a nutshell. You pick from these weirdly charming anime-style fighters—some throw punches, others shoot lasers, and a few just kinda flail around in the best way possible.
The first time I played, I accidentally button-mashed my way through the first stage before realizing there’s actually some strategy to picking the right fighter for each opponent. The sprites are tiny but full of personality, and the music has that classic Game Boy beep-boostyle that either makes you grin or gives you flashbacks to dying on the same boss twelve times.
It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but there’s something about the chaotic energy that makes it hard to put down. You’ll either love it or rage-quit before the third stage—no in-between.
