Super Sangokushi II is one of those deep, old-school strategy games where you either pick a warlord from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms era or roll your own. At first, the menus feel a bit overwhelming—there’s a ton of stats and officers to manage—but once you get past that, it’s surprisingly addictive.
You start by securing cities, recruiting generals (some are way better than others, so good luck convincing the good ones to join you), and slowly expanding your territory. Battles are turn-based, with terrain and unit types actually mattering—cavalry charges in open fields, archers on hills, that kind of thing. The diplomacy system is weirdly fun too, like convincing rival warlords to team up or just betraying them when it’s convenient.
It’s not flashy, but if you like slow-burn strategy where every decision has weight, this one’s a solid SNES hidden gem.
