Super Mario Advance 4 is basically the GBA version of Super Mario Bros. 3—which, let’s be real, is still one of the best Mario games ever. You’ve got all the classics here: Tanooki Mario turning into a statue, Hammer Bros. chucking stuff at you, and those weirdly satisfying airship levels with the scrolling screen.
What’s cool is how well it holds up. The controls are tight, the levels are packed with secrets (I still find new hidden blocks sometimes), and the music? Instant nostalgia trip. The GBA version adds some extra voice clips and a save feature, which is nice when you’re stuck on World 8’s brutal castles.
It’s not just nostalgia, either—the level design is legit genius. One minute you’re hopping on clouds, the next you’re a raccoon tail-slapping enemies mid-air. If you’ve never played it, this is the perfect way to experience a classic. If you have? Well, it’s still just as good as you remember.
