Man, Super Goal! takes me back. The second that chunky SNES title screen pops up with its pixelated crowd noise, you know you're in for some classic arcade-style soccer. The controls are dead simple—pass, shoot, sprint—but don't let that fool you. The AI actually puts up a decent fight, especially when you crank up the difficulty.
First match I played, I got cocky thinking it'd be easy, only to have Brazil's striker absolutely school me with some ridiculous curved shots. The animations are hilariously exaggerated—players do these dramatic dives and slide tackles like they're in a soap opera. And that soundtrack? Pure 16-bit hype with those synth horns.
It's not FIFA, but that's the charm. You pick a country, pick a formation (I always go 4-3-3), and just go wild. The keepers are either psychic or completely useless—no in-between. Still fire it up sometimes when I want that quick, no-frills soccer fix. Perfect for when modern games feel too complicated.
