Super Drakkhen (or Dragon View if you're in the US) is one of those weird, ambitious SNES RPGs that doesn’t quite play like anything else. At first glance, the overworld feels janky—you’re wandering around in this awkward pseudo-3D perspective, but then suddenly you hit a town or dungeon, and it switches to this surprisingly smooth side-scrolling action mode. Swords actually feel weighty when you swing them, which was rare for the time.
The story’s delivered through these first-person text scenes that somehow don’t feel as stiff as most RPGs from ’94. And yeah, it’s technically a prequel to Drakkhen, but honestly, the connection’s pretty loose—this one’s way more playable. You’ll spend a lot of time just poking around, figuring out where to go next, which gives it this odd but kinda charming open-ended vibe. Just don’t expect anything super polished—it’s rough around the edges, but in a way that makes it memorable.
