Spud’s Adventure is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that somehow sticks with you. You play as a potato—yes, a potato—navigating maze-like levels, pushing blocks, and avoiding enemies that range from sentient vegetables to… whatever those bouncing blobs are supposed to be. The puzzles start simple, but halfway through, you’ll be scratching your head trying to figure out how to reach that key without getting cornered by a carrot.
The graphics are pure early-90s charm, all chunky sprites and bright colors, and the music’s got that bouncy, repetitive-but-weirdly-addictive quality. It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something oddly satisfying about maneuvering a spud through increasingly ridiculous obstacles. Just don’t expect a deep lore explanation for why you’re a potato in the first place.
If you’ve got a soft spot for quirky puzzle games or just want to see what Game Boy developers were cooking up back in the day, this one’s worth a play. Just be ready for some genuinely frustrating moments when the physics don’t cooperate.
