Space Invaders on Game Boy is basically the granddaddy of arcade shooters—you know, the one that started it all. You’re just this tiny laser cannon at the bottom of the screen, blasting away at rows of descending aliens that speed up the closer they get. Simple, but weirdly tense once those pixelated invaders start inching toward you.
It’s the same classic arcade vibe, just pocket-sized. The controls are stupidly straightforward (left, right, shoot), but good luck putting it down once you’re in the zone. The music’s this repetitive, hypnotic beeping that somehow makes the whole thing even more addictive.
Honestly, it’s amazing how well this holds up for a game from the late ‘70s. You’ll either love the purity of it or bounce off hard—no in-between.
