Ever played one of those mech games where the controls feel like wrestling a fridge? Soukou Kihei Votoms isn't that. You're piloting a clunky-but-satisfying armored trooper, blasting through enemy squads with a mix of ranged shots and close-up punches. The sprites have that classic SNES chunkiness—lots of metal scraping and explosions that shake the screen just right.
First mission drops you straight into a desert warzone, and yeah, you'll probably eat dirt a few times figuring out the weight of your mech's movements. But once you get the rhythm of ducking behind cover and timing your counterattacks, it clicks. The music's all tense synth beats, like someone remixed a military march with a drum machine.
It's Japan-only, so menus are a puzzle if you don't read kanji, but the action speaks for itself. Just don't expect a walk in the park—this thing plays like the mechs feel: heavy, deliberate, and brutal when it connects.
