Solid Runner on SNES is one of those weird, underrated action games that slipped under the radar. You play as this cyborg dude sprinting through side-scrolling levels, blasting robots and dodging traps—kinda like if Contra and Shinobi had a slightly janky but lovable baby. The controls take a minute to get used to (why does jumping feel so floaty?), but once it clicks, you’ll be wall-kicking and spraying bullets like a pro.
Japan got all the cool box art, too—way better than the generic "guy with gun" covers we usually got. The music’s got that classic SNES synth-rock vibe, and some of the boss fights actually make you think instead of just mashing fire. It’s not perfect, but there’s something charming about its rough edges. If you dig obscure 16-bit action, this one’s worth a few credits.
