Sky Dancers on the GBA is this weirdly charming little platformer where you play as these fairy-like dancers who, well, fly. Like, actually fly—not just float awkwardly. You’re zipping through pastel-colored clouds, dodging obstacles, and pulling off these looping aerial tricks that feel half ballet, half arcade shooter.
The controls take a second to click—you’ve got to manage altitude while timing spins for speed boosts—but once it does, there’s something satisfying about nailing a perfect spiral through a ring of stars. The music’s got that early 2000s synth-harp vibe, which somehow works when you’re barrel-rolling over a rainbow.
It’s definitely a product of its time (the character designs scream "toy commercial"), but there’s a sincerity to it that makes the whole thing endearing. You’ll either bounce off it in five minutes or get weirdly invested in your high score. I still hum the cloud level theme sometimes.
