Puyo Pop Fever on GBA is that perfect kind of puzzle game where you'll zone out for hours without realizing it. You start by dropping these cute little blobs (puyos, if we're being fancy), trying to match four of the same color to make them pop. Sounds simple, right? Then the game laughs and dumps a pile of nuisance puyos on you when your opponent chains combos.
What I love is how the Fever mode kicks in—suddenly everything speeds up, your puyos drop faster, and you're scrambling to set up ridiculous chain reactions. The colors pop on the GBA screen, and there's something satisfying about watching a well-planned cascade wipe half the board. First time I played, I got wrecked by the CPU on normal difficulty, which was... humbling.
It's got that classic Puyo charm with just enough chaos to keep you mashing buttons when things get tense. Perfect for quick sessions or losing track of an afternoon.
